As part of Lymm Festival Friends of Spud Wood are hosting an event to launch their new permanent orienteering course. The “Family Orienteering @ Spud Wood” free event is on Saturday 22 June running between 3-7pm, starting at Oughtrington Community Centre (on Oughtrington Crescent), with last entries at 6.30pm.
There are a number of different courses available, including a timed course and a string course for the little ones. Come to the centre to register and we will provide a map and course sheet. Spud Wood is an easy, short walk along the canal bank , return to the centre to post your results and see if you’ve won a prize.
Spud Wood is 21 years old in 2019 and to celebrate this FoSW and The Woodland Trust wanted to do something to encourage more people to visit and enjoy the wood. The permanent orienteering course has come about through the support of other local organisations: Lymm Round Table provided the generous funding, 3rd Lymm Scouts Group the mapping and orienteering knowledge and Bridgewater Canal Company provided some of the materials.
