Lymm Community Energy 2016 Share Offer is Now Closed!

STOP PRESS: As of 4th July we’ve hit our (revised) target of £75,000 so that Statham and Cherry Tree school children can enjoy 20 years of green energy from the sun and learn all about renewable energy in the process, as well as the schools saving money from cheaper electricity and more energy efficient lighting.

A big Thank You goes to all our wonderful, ethical investors, and of course to the pupils, staff and parents who’ve helped spread the word.

We look forward to sharing more good news as the schemes progress to installation and ‘Go Live’. So watch this page in the coming months…

Lymm Community Energy’s latest community share offer is now live – from Thursday 19th May 2016 for up to five weeks – until Thursday 23rd June at 5pm. Building on the incredible success of our 2015 share offer and installation of solar photovoltaic systems on Oughtrington and Ravenbank Primary Schools in Lymm, this share offer will help the remaining two primary schools in Lymm, Cherry Tree and Statham, to run on sun! The investment will also help increase energy efficiency at the schools.

Last chance for Statham and Cherry Tree Primary Schools to benefit

This year is especially important because due to cuts in the government’s financial support for solar photovoltaics, this is the last chance to make renewable schools a reality for all Lymm primary school children.

We are aiming to raise a total of £68,000 through our community share offer. Every penny of the money raised will contribute to saving energy at the two primary schools; Lymm Community Energy is 100% run by volunteers.

Everyone involved in the project will benefit:

  • The school: Each school will benefit from cheaper electricity for at least 20 years, releasing at least £1000 per year from their budgets; plus further savings from energy efficiency.
  • The investors: Investors will earn share interest from year two onwards at a good return of 3-4%, plus get their capital investment back by the end of the 20 year investment period.
  • The community: We’ll be the only village where all our primary school children are running on sun, helping thousands of children to learn first-hand about technology, science, maths and renewable energy.

Jack, a year 6 pupil at Cherry Tree, said: “It will make the school more efficient because just one hour of sunlight can provide a huge amount of energy.”

Get involved!

To make this project a reality, we need investors! Shares can be purchased in any amount above £250 and as in our previous scheme at other schools in Lymm, you will receive share interest from year two, projected to be 3-4%. Current performance of the systems now installed for one year indicate we will be able to pay share interest at this level – an excellent return on your investment that really does benefit your local community.

Don’t delay!

Last year’s share offer was over-subscribed and we closed the share offer early. We may do the same if we have high demand for the shares this time. So if you want to invest, our advice is to get in quick – first come, first served!
