Petitioning against HS2 – urgent action if you are directly affected

You may be aware that the Hybrid Bill for Phase 1 of HS2 is at now at the petitioning stage in Pariliament. ┬áThis means that people who are “specially, directly and injuriously affected” by the Bill can “petition” Parliament for changes.

StopHS2 and HS2AA are urging people who live near the proposed route of Phase 2 to submit a petition to Parliament.  The decisions taken on Phase 1 are likely to set key parameters for Phase 2.
The HS2 Bill also contains a clause with a very direct relevance to communities located on Phase 2 – a new power for HS2 Ltd to enter property within 500m of any place it deems is a site for a potential new high speed line.

Petitions must be delivered to Portcullis House in hand by you or your MP before 2pm on Friday 23rd May.
