More trees for Spud Wood

tree planting in Spud Wood – with Lymm High School Ecology Club

On Sunday 16 November Lymm High School Ecology Club helped volunteers from the Friends of Spud Wood (FoSW) Group plant almost 100 new trees.

With the support and encouragement of The Woodland Trust the students planted nearly 100 new fruiting and flowering trees.  The new trees will increase the foraging opportunities in the wood.  Crab Apples, Bird Cherry and Wild Cherry trees were amongst the new saplings that have been planted.

Mr Heaton from Lymm High School Ecology Club said “…its really good for the children to have the opportunity to do some practical work in their community.  They have really enjoyed planting the trees in Spud Wood.”
