We are holding a coppicing event on the on Saturday 7th February 2015 10am-12.30pm.
We will be cutting down some of the hazels near the main entrance to Spud Wood. Coppicing will allow the hazels to regenerate; the brash we cut down will be used to make a hedge to protect the stumps and make a wildlife tunnel. The wood can be taken by volunteers for their own use e.g. fencing, bean poles, fires etc
Do come along and get involved we are meeting at the kissing gate into the wood, on the path from Stage Lane car park.
Neil Oxley the Spud Wood site manager will lead the coppicing.
Everyone is welcome, any children need to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Please wear stout boots and gloves and bring loppers & bow saws, kneelers are also useful. You need to bring your own tools – No tools will be provided.
